The Opus senior management team has been collaborating on some of the UK’s finest retirement villages and care homes for nearly two decades. Meet us individually below.
Paddy has worked in the retirement village market since 2006, prior to which he was a Finance Director with Berkeley Homes. As managing director of Richmond Villages Paddy oversaw the development of the company and led the sale to Bupa in 2013, and subsequently the business continued to grow under his leadership with the development and launch of three new retirement living schemes. Like the rest of the management team, Paddy makes time to meet with village team members and looks forward to welcoming and spending time with new Opus residents.
Business Development Director
Having held roles at NatWest and Compagnie Bancaire, Paul moved to Lehman Brothers as Chief Operating Officer for a specialist healthcare subsidiary; he then joined Bank of Ireland UK, where he was responsible for managing the development of the bank’s healthcare business. In 2005 Paul joined Richmond Villages as Business Development Director. Alongside Paddy, he was key to subsequent growth and the sale of the business to Bupa in August 2013, and afterwards to the development of the 3 Richmond sites at Witney, Aston-on-Trent and Evesham.
Business Operations Director
Susie has a wide range of experience at companies large and small, as well as in the charity sector in a variety of operational and general management roles. In 2005 she became Village Manager at Richmond Painswick, successfully leading the village from pre-opening through to maturity; as Operations Director from 2013, she oversaw the roll-out of best practices at all established Richmond villages, along with the successful opening of three new communities. Susie is currently in charge of ensuring the latest and best technology is incorporated into all Opus developments, and putting in place the best care and customer services for our residents.
Steven is a chartered management accountant, qualifying at the global strategy consultancy Bain & Company after graduating from Exeter University. He has specialised in the hotel and leisure sector for over 15 years, with extensive development, construction, and reorganisation experience. A highly motivated and experienced CFO with an impressive track record delivering phenomenally successful projects, managing budgets in the multiple £100m’s, including The O2, The Bulgari Hotel, and The Peninsula London
Head Of Marketing
As well as a background in corporate events and hospitality, David has over 16 years of experience in the retirement village and care home industry. As Marketing Manager at Richmond Villages, David was responsible for launching six new villages, using a combination of traditional and digital marketing strategies, and more recently was a sales and marketing lead for one of the UK’s premier care home operators.
Sales And Marketing Manager
Beginning her career in the NHS and North Warwickshire Trust, Nickey went on to work for Henley College, managing the business centre team and promoting and selling courses. Nickey joined Richmond Villages in 2006 and took on a variety of roles covering office management, data interrogation and analysis, and latterly a more senior role in sales and marketing.
Head Of Development
Originally trained and qualified as a quantity surveyor, Albert moved into construction management in 1987, obtaining chartered status with the CIOB in 1992 and with the RICS in 2003. He qualified for PRINCE 2 in 1999. Albert joined Richmond Villages in 2008, where he oversaw the development of new villages as well as ensuring all existing villages were maintained to the highest standards.
Patrick brings a wealth of experience in construction management across a diverse range of sectors, having been responsible for many major, fast-paced, and complex projects. Patrick has experience as Project Manager, Project Director and Construction Director level for some of the UK’s leading construction companies including Bowmer & Kirkland, Laing O’Rourke, Vinci and John Sisk & Son.
Head Of Land And Planning
Having lived and worked abroad for many years, Rob started his UK property career as Head of Development for a Housing Association, a role that kindled his passion for building homes that can be easily adapted or personalised for residents as their needs change over time. In subsequent roles in Development Consultancy his expertise was applied specifically to the development of care homes, and with the team now leading Opus to care villages as well. He brings to the team more than 30 years of experience as a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor specialising in the housing, health and care sectors.
